Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be backed to bring in fresh faces in the forthcoming January transfer window to bolster his squad for the second half of the campaign.
The Red Devils have enjoyed a decent start to the new season and will be hoping to erase the negatives that have come up so far in their displays when the ongoing international breaks comes to a close.
United had made major moves in the transfer window this summer with Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo being the marquee arrivals at Old Trafford in a much-needed strengthening of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
For the January window, Solskjaer will have a chance to eye up moves for some of the promising names in the market, which are many should you come across the Football Database.
Here are 5 players we believe will be high on Manchester United’s wishlist –
1. Ruben Neves
The Wolves midfield maestro had been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford on deadline day this summer in a move that never materialised despite United’s need for a new face in midfield.
Neves can prove to be a brilliant addition to the Manchester United ranks and at just 24 years of age, the Portugal international carries a lot of promise in his ability out there on the pitch.
2. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Another midfielder on this list is the Lazio man Milinkovic-Savic who has been one of the top players in his position in the Serie A over the years.
The Serbian international will not be a cut-price signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but will be a worthy presence in the centre of the park for his suitors.
3. Declan Rice
The midfielders in this list are not going to end anytime soon considering Manchester United’s lack of quality options in that department and West Ham United skipper Declan Rice being backed as a priority target for the United board.
Rice has been an influential performer for The Hammers and was heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium this summer but ended up staying put only for rumours to suggest he will be on his way out next summer.
Manchester United will be hoping to fend off competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool for landing Rice and could be in line to advance their plans to bring him in come January.
4. Kieren Trippier
The former Tottenham Hotspur full-back has been a longstanding target for United and Solskjaer with the latter keen on adding to his options at the back to provide competition to Aaron Wan-Bisaaka.
Trippier will be one name to watch out for in the January window amid speculation that the defender is keen on a return to the Premier League with United keeping tabs on his situation with Atletico Madrid.
5. Ousmane Dembele
Manchester United boast of significant depth in their attacking roster after signing Sancho and Ronaldo in the summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be tempted to make a move for FC Barcelona contract rebel Ousmane Dembele.

His availability on a free transfer next summer should he decide against extending terms at Camp Nou will make him an attractive target for United who could be in the offing to sign him on the cheap in Janaury.
