Manchester United had been lately linked with the likes of Douglas Costa of Juventus, as a back-up plan for Jadon Sancho. Costa is 29-years old and has had a poor injury record at Juventus, due to which the Old Lady want to sell him. But there have been contradicting reports by several outlets, with some saying United have moved on and others reporting a bid has been placed.
It is for sure that the agents of Douglas Costa had given United the chance to sign the player. Costa’s agents were sure of United’s interests as the club has failed to reach an agreement on priority signing, Jadon Sancho. According to Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport, United have already placed a bid of €30m for Douglas Costa.
On the other hand, the Mirror suggests that Manchester United have decided not to sign Douglas Costa. The contradicting reports are a testimony to the air of nervousness and doubt in and around Manchester United regarding this transfer window. The Red Devils haven’t made any marquee signings yet despite finishing third in the Premier League.
United have reportedly prioritized the signing of Jadon Sancho and thus it is unlikely that the club will sign any other player before they get Jadon Sancho.
