Fred was one of the stand-out performers last season for Manchester United and had cemented his place in the team prior to the restart. But with Pogba’s return to fitness, the Frenchman made the midfield spot his own, leaving Fred on the bench. Lately, it has been reported by Fotomac that Galatasaray are plotting a move to take Fred on-loan from United for a season.
Fred was signed in the summer of 2018 for a reported fee of £52m but didn’t click for United in his first season. The Brazilian international found it difficult to cope with the pace of the Premier League after coming from a slower league. But last season Fred found his feet at United after Pogba got injured in the middle of the season.
Fred and Mctominay flourished in the midfield, and Fred played very well, especially after the signing of Bruno Fernandes. But after Pogba’s return to fitness, Fred has again found minutes hard to come by. Galatasaray are now trying to lure Fred back to the Turkish League for the second year running but this time on-loan.
It is highly unlikely for Fred to leave United this summer as he is seen as Matic’s long-term replacement. Fred will be looking to build on his strong season and will be determined to make it to the starting XI.
