Jesse Lingard was one of the best players on the pitch for the Red Devils last night as United won 3-0 against Luton Town. But this has not always been the case for the midfielder as he has struggled in the last couple of years. As Lingard’s future is still unpredictable amongst links with Tottenham, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher talks about Lingard’s future.
The midfielder has been linked with several clubs like Tottenham, West Ham and Everton along with other Italian clubs. His association with Mino Raiola had raised many eyebrows as many felt that Jesse Lingard wants to leave his boyhood club, United. But with only 12 days left for the transfer window to close, the Englishman has failed to seal a move elsewhere.
When asked about Lingard’s future on Sky Sports, Darren Fletcher said: “It’s unknown.. The alarm bells started ringing for me when he appointed Mino Raiola as his agent. You don’t appoint him as your agent if you’re planning on staying at your club, that suggests you’re looking for a move.” He also added: “It will be interesting to see how it happens towards the end of the transfer window.”
Manchester United will be happy to sell the likes of Lingard as he is valued at about £25-30m by the Red Devils. The midfielder should move for the betterment of his career as he has turned into just another squad player at United. The Tottenham links will be encouraging for Lingard, and he would be keen to move to the London club in search of game-time ahead of the scheduled UEFA Euros in the summer of next year.
