Manchester United FC’s all-time highest scorer in the English top-flight, Wayne Rooney is a living legend of the club. The English centre-forward now plays in the Championship with Derby County but surely knows all about his former club Manchester United. In his latest column for The Sunday Times, Rooney has expressed that United must go for someone like Harry Kane instead of signing Jadon Sancho.
It is known to almost everyone who follows English football that Manchester United had prioritized a move for Jadon Sancho this summer. But much to the disgust of everyone to supports United, the board’s incompetency has been on the show once again as they are yet to bid for Sancho. But Rooney is surprised that United have not gone for someone like Harry Kane.
The former United captain wrote “Jadon Sancho is a top player, but I find it odd that he has been Manchester United’s transfer priority. Why consider paying close to £100 million for someone similar to talent you’ve got already? United have Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and where would Sancho’s arrival leave Mason Greenwood, who plays in the same position and is of similar age?”
Rooney believes that Kane will bring in goals to the United side, who are rather bending on having Sancho. Also, the likes of Rashford and Sancho are very similar, but United do need a specialist right-winger, like Sancho. Thus, signing Sancho should be the right way ahead for the Red Devils.
