Manchester United’s lookout for a well-established right-winger this summer had seen them prioritize a move for Jadon Sancho. But, only on transfer deadline day, the Red Devils gave up on a move for Sancho as they didn’t want to pay Dortmund’s valuation for Jadon Sancho. What followed was a frantic search for Sancho’s alternative which was yet another show of Manchester United board’s incompetence.
Earlier in the transfer deadline day, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that United had turned their attentions towards the signing of Ousmane Dembele. As the day progressed, the sources grew in the British and Spanish press as well. The problem with the deal was Barcelona wanted to sell Dembele permanently, whereas United only wanted the Frenchman on-loan.
By afternoon, it was reported that Barcelona and Dembele had agreed on a loan deal to Manchester United. But the Blaugrana had a condition that they would let Dembele go on-loan, if he extended his contract by one more year, which he denied. In the latter evening the Red Devils enquired for Ismaila Sarr of Watford, but only on-loan, which the Hornets denied instantly.
Manchester United finally agreed for a move for Atalanta youngster Amad Diallo. This transfer window has shown the entire world United board’s incompetency of signing players.
