Manchester United desperately need a commanding centre-back to play alongside the likes of Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof. The United board didn’t sign even one of the priority signings as set by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which included Nathan Ake, Dayot Upamecano and Kalidou Koulibaly. It is now being reported by ESPN that Manchester United might sign a centre-back in the January transfer window if the situation doesn’t improve.
Manchester United have reportedly missed out on defenders like Ake and Upamecano this summer. This was another example of the United board’s incompetency as it again failed to see the area of the team that needed most restructuring. It has also been reported that United are front-runners to sign Dayot Upamecano next summer, but looking at how United have done their business, this looks unlikely as the Frenchman looked poised to move to Old Trafford this summer as well.
It has now been reported that Manchester United might be forced to sign a centre-back of United’s defensive woes don’t end. The Red Devils are now being linked to Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, who was earlier scouted by Manchester City. Though he will cost a fortune, United just be forced to sign him because of their defensive failures.
Solskjaer would hope that United’s defence becomes better or else the Norwegian might well have to part with his job.
