Manchester United lost against Arsenal, as Solskjaer gets it all wrong against Arteta in a game which was controlled by the Gunners. Manchester United players played poorly and hardly showed any signs of scoring and were outplayed by Arsenal. The Red Devils have been inconsistent and have only got one point in four games at Old Trafford this season in the Premier League.
Let us now have a look at the player ratings of Manchester United against Arsenal.
DAVID DE GEA – 6
David de Gea had a rather boring game in between as Arsenal didn’t create a lot of clear-cut chances. The goal he conceded was a penalty and it is always in favour of the striker.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 6
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was one of the better Manchester United players last night as he kept Aubameyang and Tierney at bay. He had a few moments of a lapse in concentration but didn’t let that affect his game.
VICTOR LINDELOF – 7
Lindelof was one of Manchester United’s best players as he saved the Red Devils going two or three-nil down. The Swedish defender passed well out of the back and looked more stable than his centre-back partner, Maguire.
HARRY MAGUIRE – 5
Harry Maguire was again unstable at the heart of United’s defence and also missed a couple of chance at the other end. The Manchester United captain was frequently dragged out of position and failed to clear the ball most of the time at the front post.
LUKE SHAW – 7
Luke Shaw was arguably Manchester United’s best player on the pitch last night, as he defended well and also created chances going forward. Shaw was in charge of the set-pieces last night and floated a couple of good balls into the box which United didn’t capitalize on.
FRED – 4
Fred was wasteful last night and lost the ball far too many times because of his poor touch and lack of passing accuracy. He was played out of position and evidently suffered playing out of the back and was later taken off for Matic.
SCOTT MCTOMINAY – 5
Scott McTominay had another poor night having played out of position and to the shock of everyone he played the full game. He found it difficult in the box-to-box role as he failed to defend or attack.
PAUL POGBA – 4
Just as everyone came to believe that Pogba looks to be back at his best, he drops another shocking performance. He was dispossessed far too many times and failed to create anything going forward. On top of that, he also gave the penalty away from which Aubameyang scored, taking all three points for Arsenal.
BRUNO FERNANDES – 6
Bruno Fernandes had an off-day and couldn’t get involved in the build-up like he usually does for the Red Devils. He gave away the ball a few times and wasn’t on it and was thus taken off for Van de Beek.
MARCUS RASHFORD – 5
Marcus Rashford looked off-colour and out of ideas against Arsenal so sat back and defended deep. The Englishman just created one chance for Mason Greenwood but failed to stamp his authority on the Arsenal defence and the game.
MASON GREENWOOD – 6
The teenager had a bad game overall as he just could not get himself involved in the play. He had a half-chance which he couldn’t score from and barely threatened the Arsenal goal afterwards.
SUBSTITUTES
NEMANJA MATIC – 6
Matic came on for Fred and kept the ball moving for Manchester United and did his job well.
DONNY VAN DE BEEK – 7
In only 18 minutes, Van de Beek had the most touches for a United player in the Arsenal box, which shows why he should start more games. One of his crosses also got deflected onto the crossbar.
EDINSON CAVANI – 5
Edinson Cavani looked rusty and slow, as the veteran needs more minutes to get back the match fitness.
