Donny Van de Beek and Paul Pogba have had very different starts to the season at Manchester United even though both haven’t got a lot of game-time. But on one hand, Van de Beek has performed whenever he has played, on the other hand, Pogba has played poorly despite been chances. In both their recent international friendlies, Van de Beek got a goal against Spain but Pogba produced a lethargic performance.
Van de Beek has been a constant topic of talk for pundits, as his game-time has been hard to come by for him. The Dutchman has also been criticized for joining Manchester United for the same. But last night, he showed everyone his worth, as he put in a great shift and topped it off with a goal against Spain.
But Paul Pogba, who has been hammered by pundits recently, didn’t do anything to make-up for his performances lately. The Frenchman put in a lethargic shift against Finland and constantly lost the ball. He was also at fault for Finland’s second goal, as he didn’t close his man down in time, which once again emphasized his lack of defensive work rate.
Donny Van de Beek deserves to be given a start by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Premier League, and Pogba needs to clean his act up big time if he wants to thrive at Manchester United.
