Manchester United have been linked with a centre-back throughout the summer, but the board failed to sign a defender. Maguire and Lindelof were fine last season, but both the defenders are relatively slow, which is sometimes taken advantage of by the opposition. It is now being reported by CalcioMercato that Manchester United are currently looking at Dan-Axel Zagadou of Borussia Dortmund and will try to sign him next summer.
It was reported earlier that Manchester United are keen on signing a centre-back like Carmo in as early as January. The Red Devils have been poor defensively from the beginning of this season and need some new defensive signings. Even though United have a lot of centre-backs in their ranks, Solskjaer doesn’t trust most of them.
It has been reported that Manchester United are now monitoring Zagadou’s situation at Borussia Dortmund regardless of his injury. The 21-year old defender’s contract with the German club expires in 2022, which United will look to take advantage of. Zagadou is seen as one of the best young defenders in the world and fits in with the profile the Red Devils want in their centre-back.
The Red Devils should try their best to sign Zagadou, but it won’t be easy and the United board will now know the same, as he belongs to Dortmund.
