Manchester United opened their account at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season against West Brom in a lethargic display. But World Cup winner Paul Pogba didn’t play a part in the game which was to the surprise of many fans. In his pre-match press conference, Solskjaer has revealed why Pogba didn’t feature in the Red Devils squad last night at Old Trafford after a good international break.
Pogba has had a tough start to the season after suffering from the coronavirus earlier. The midfielder had a bad start to the international break but ended it well with good performances against Portugal and Sweden. He was expected to be a part of the starting XI last night, but this absence raised eyebrows, but Solskjaer explained why he was rested.
In his talk, Solskjaer said: “Paul got a knock in the last [France] game and he started feeling it yesterday after the session. Well, he felt it before the session, but he couldn’t carry on. Hopefully he’ll be okay for Tuesday.”
United isn’t even sure about Pogba’s availability against Basaksehir in the Champions League this midweek.
Pogba has been linked to a move to other clubs and there has been a problem with his fitness in the last couple of years. Only time will tell if Paul Pogba makes it to the Manchester United starting lineup in the midweek game in Champions League.
