Solksjaer provides Cavani and Martial injury updates

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has talked about injuries to Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani and he has given fairly positive news regarding them. Both picked up muscle injuries.

Martial played along with Greenwood and Cavani as they went for an all-round attack, yet they were behind in the first half against West Ham.

Cavani was handed the first-team chance after his match-winning display against Southampton, yet after playing the first half, he didn’t participate in the second one and was replaced. Martial too was injured in the second half.

Dissimilar to in the midweek rout against PSG where Fred was still on the field even after his yellow card, Solskjaer made changes at the break with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford supplanting Cavani and Donny van de Beek. It wasn’t well before Martial got a thump and must be supplanted by Juan Mata. And he made sure he doesn’t repeat the mistake again.

The uplifting news for Solskjaer is every one of the three of his substitutes made a second-half goal commitment. He affirmed that the two wounds will be surveyed in front of Tuesday’s outing to RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League.

Solksjaer said: “We lost Anthony and Edinson. Hopefully, they aren’t too bad but they couldn’t carry on today. There’s a game coming up on Tuesday but that’s probably going to be the season this year. There’s going to be some games that we have to do without players and I’m glad we’ve got the subs that we have. They’re not bad ones hopefully. We’ll do the scans and hopefully, they’ll be available soon.

A point would do United against Leipzig yet they will most likely need success to top Group H, with PSG luring behind. So they need their strikers to be fit soon so that they can make it through.

PSG will most likely be looking to crush Istanbul Basaksehir on the night to ensure their position in the knockout stages which is something we would have accomplished in the event that we didn’t neglect to beat the Turkish bosses on their own turf.

Solksjaer will be aware of the young Leipzig squad and their manager. But he will be having huge confidence in the team after United recently punished Leipzig 5-0 in UCL.
