New West Brom boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly keen on signing Manchester United forward Daniel James in a short-term loan deal as the Englishman scrambles to add attacking reinforcements to his first-team ranks at the Baggies this January.
According to reports from the Daily Star, Allardyce has reached out to the Old Trafford giants in the hope of coming to a positive agreement regarding James’ signing on a temporary basis for the 19th-placed West Brom side who face a tough task to survive the drop to the Championship next season.
Speculation concerning James’ exit from Old Trafford in a loan deal has arisen before as well, with Leeds United understood to be wanting to bring the Welsh international to Elland Road despite the 23-year-old getting plenty of first-team involvement of late for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
The ex-Swansea City man remains a fringe starter for the Red Devils in spite of his recent game-time opportunities as Solskjaer ponders over James’ future in the Manchester United colours beyond the January transfer window.
Heading out to Allardyce’s new club in a short-term deal is bound to give James plenty of regular chances in the XI week in and week out, but whether the Welshman agrees to sign for the Baggies remains to be seen after his reintegration into the first-team fold at Manchester United.
