Manchester United 1-0 West Ham United Match Report | FA Cup 20-21

Manchester United bounced back from the recent drama in a draw against Everton to book their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a hard-earned win over West Ham United.

An extra-time goal from Scott McTominay was crucial towards Solskjaer’s men sealing their fate further into the FA Cup, giving the Red Devils some much-needed respite on their search for silverware.

The opening 45 minutes at Old Trafford ensured a close contest between the two sides and David Moyes’ Hammers proved to be an equal match for their hosts.

However, stats did suggest that it was Ole’s Manchester men who enjoyed the fair share of possession in their favour and got enough changes on the West Ham goal to trouble Lukasz Fabianski, who put in a tremendous shift.

The Polish shot-stopper was clinical in his goalkeeping over the course of the first-half as he kept the United frontline at bay besides notching up an important save from efforts by Victor Lindelof.

Fabianski’s golden time between the sticks continued well inside the second-half as well, with the former Arsenal man playing more than his necessary part in keeping the visitors right in the mix.

A careless moment of defensive awareness from Aaron Wan-Bisaaka could have put United in the backseat but Dean Henderson was alert in tipping the wayward clearance from the English full-back over the bar.

Substitutions were on show for either outfit as the game looked all set to head into extra-time and Solskjaer brought on the likes of Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes to steer his team towards victory.

And it was one of the United gaffer’s changes off the bench which secured the win for the hosts, with Scott McTominay prodding in the ball past the helpless Fabianski and the Old Trafford giants took the advantage on their own patch with merely 13 minutes left to play for.
