Manchester United tasted their first spoon of defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on their second game of the Premier league campaign. United lost the match in the first half itself, after conceding three goals before the break. Brighton were on top in just 25 minutes, scoring two goals in quick succession with a cheeky right-foot flick by Glenn Murray which was followed by a easy left-footed shoot by Shane Duffy.
It looked like Lukaku had saved the day after scoring a header from a lofted ball off the deflection of Brighton’s defender, making the score 2-1 but Brighton carried their 2 goal lead after a spot kick courtesy of a foul by Eric Bailly going into the dressing room just before the break. With the early pressure from the Devils in the first 20 minutes it looked like the Seagulls fans would have a dismaying night. Lukaku’s first goal of the campaign created doubts but only till Brighton were awarded a penalty.
In the second half both England star Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford were brought in the game in search of a fight back. United got a lot of chances but lacked the finishing touch or player to be present in the perfect place. They did get a penalty and a chance to come back but was too late to stop the whistle from being blown before getting a chance to score their third goal.
The only positive United may take out from the match is that it is just the beginning of the season, and have a lot of matches to come back. The ‘too many mistakes’ will have to be nullified in order to triumph the Premier League this season.
