Manchester United has drawn AC Milan in the last 16 round of the Uefa Europa League.
United comfortably cruised past Real Sociedad and now faces a tougher competition against the Milan side. United will be wary of the threat that Ibrahimovic and his teammates possess. Ibrahimovic will play against his former team which will be quite interesting to watch. Even on loan player Diogo Dalot will feature against his former side if he gets the chance to play.
Solksjaer was pleased with the draw and he did mention that this looked more like a Champions League draw due to the level of the teams involved.
Solksjaer said: “It’s a nice birthday gift, isn’t it? To watch that draw! We do have the tradition of making it hard for ourselves in draws. It’s one of those draws again that you feel could be a Champions League game. It’s good for us to have these games to look forward to. This team needs challenges and we enjoy challenges and we embrace them. The tradition and history of AC Milan, it’s a great club that we welcome and it’s a great stadium that we go there, and we’re looking forward to it.”
Solksjaer even praised Diogo Dalot and Ibrahimovic and was quite impressed by the performances they have made for AC Milan. Manchester United has a host of other players to deal with. Big names such as Romagnoli, Rebic, Hernandez, Donnarumma, Andre Silva, and many other players will be looking to have an impact.
The first leg will be played at Old Trafford and the subsequent second leg will be played at San Siro.
The first and second leg matches will be officially commenced on 11th March and 18th March respectively.
It will be an interesting match to watch for all, a truly classic match for both teams.
