Manchester United play hosts to Brighton over the coming weekend in what would be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co. returning to club football after the ongoing international break.
The Red Devils had been in incredible form prior to the fortnight-long break barring a defeat to Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals meeting which ended United’s run in the competition.
Brighton have been impressive of late and many would not rule out a shock result come Sunday at Old Trafford putting the onus on Solskjaer to field a strong XI to gather a result that would go a long way in closing the gap on runaway leaders Manchester City.
Let us now have a look at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might set his Manchester United XI:
4-2-3-1
With David de Gea staging a return to the on-field action, the Spaniard would reclaim the No.1 spot for United which would spell out the end of Dean Henderson’s extended involvement between the sticks.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof remain Solskajer’s first-choice pairing in the heart of the defence and the duo would be seen leading the backline once again come Sunday.
Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bisaaka have largely been unrivalled in the full-back roles this season as have Fred and Scot McTominay with the latter two earning the trust of the United boss when given the holding midfield duties.
Paul Pogba was in impactful form against AC Milan in the Europe League and the Frenchman’s likely inclusion in the XI would mean Bruno Fernandes could take up the spot on the right flank, relegating Dan James to the bench in the process.
