Ahead of the Granada clash, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes said his side is “made to win prizes” and asked them to jump the semi-final hindrance in cup rivalries to at last get their hands on the coveted Europa Cup trophy which they all need.
Fernandes was signed from Sporting CF and this signing proved to be a masterclass signing for United. The Portuguese has transformed into a supernatural figure since joining United from Sporting a year ago, scoring an astonishing 35 goals and contributing 22 aids on just 68 games taking all matches into consideration.
Bruno Fernandes while talking to the British magazine Four Four Two, said: “We can’t think of anything else at this club. United is made for trophies and the whole mood is around that. We reached the semis and lost to City, but that’s not enough. That wasn’t our time. We need to be in finals and win them.”
Bruno has been a true leader for Manchester United and he has already blossomed this United side into serious title contenders. But still, there are many reasons because of which United are not being consistent in matches that are easier to win. They have been troubled by teams sitting in the relegation-threatened zone in the PL table.
Such performances have been widely criticized as United put in some great performances against bigger teams but then lose miserably against lower teams.
Manchester United still sits at the second spot in the league table, 14 points behind arch-rivals Manchester City. Although City are clear favorites to win this race, United can still give them a tough fight and can change things at the end if they want it to happen.
