Manchester United welcome arch-rivals Liverpool on Thursday in the Premier League with the visitors chasing Champions League qualification, something that Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s men now stand assured of.
The fixture was to be held last week but with the ever-increasing protests against United’s owners and the subsequent storming of the Old Trafford pitch, it was called off at the last minute.
Let us now have a look at how Solskjaer might set up his Manchester United side against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool-
4-2-3-1
Dean Henderson would be back in the goal for the hosts after sitting out the recent 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in a game where Solskjaer had opted to bring in David de Gea.
The first-choice backline, barring the injured Harry Maguire, will be on show again after being rested for the midweek fixture against the Foxes and the likes of Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw would reclaim their spots at the back.
Mason Greenwood seems the only candidate likely to keep hold of his starting role as Donny van de Beek and Juan Mata will be dropping down to make way for Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford to come in.
Edinson Cavani will take up the No.9 role from Greenwood who will shift to his usual position on the right flank as the former will hope to celebrate his recent contract extension with a solid showing in front of the goal.
