Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw against Fulham as United failed to grab the win after going ahead through a wonderful Cavani goal.
Edinson Cavani guaranteed the arrival of fans to Old Trafford was a vital one as he got everyone’s attention with a jaw-dropping long-range goal yet Manchester United were held 1-1 by a dedicated Fulham team.
A derby triumph over Manchester City back in March 2020 was the last time United fans were allowed inside the stadium for a game before the effect of the Covid pandemic constrained all matches and fans were kept away.
10,000 fans were permitted inside Old Trafford on Wednesday in the midst of relaxing of limitations in England and, in a game where United were out to secure their second spot in the Premier League, they were blessed to receive one of their best goals of this season from Cavani.

His accurate positioning sense of Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola from 35 yards broke the halt and apparently put United on course for a good win. Nonetheless, United didn’t take their chances from that point and were at last broken down as Joe Bryan’s first Premier League goal got a point for Fulham.
Bruno Fernandes, United’s player of the year, saw a curling freekick kept out by Areola as United tried to find the winner, however, Fabio Carvalho squandered a brilliant opportunity as he shot straight to David De Gea.
Fernandes shockingly whipped a free-kick wide from the edge of the box before De Gea needed to deliver a wonderful double save to deny Lookman and Carvalho from a tight point one after another.
Areola kept the in-form Mason Greenwood from making the game sealed and United eventually gifted away a goal as Bryan took in to head home Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s wonderful cross and acquire a point for Fulham’s second-half performance.
Cavani with the cheeky goal:
Edinson Cavani is currently in red hot form and he proved that again. A wonderful long-range chip above Areola was one of his goals of the season.
10 – Edinson Cavani is only the third Man Utd player to reach 10+ goals in a single Premier League season while aged 33 or over at the start of that campaign, after Teddy Sheringham in 2000-01 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2016-17. Lobbed. pic.twitter.com/955TLEVWAw

The execution on his completely weighted chip was wonderful, with previous Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Areola simply ready to get some assistance on the shot as Cavani sent the fans into joys in his first game in front of the United fans since joining the club.
He now has 16 goals and 9 assists to his name in less than a year since joining Manchester United. Cavani is certain to save his wonderful display for the next season as he recently signed a new contract. We hope to see more magic from this lethal striker.
Maguire being a major miss:
Manchester United’s defense looked shambolic without their star man. Maguire’s injury has brought a big loss to the club. United has since lost two games and drew one in the last three matches.
Lindelof was absolutely clueless against Fulham and so do Axel Taunzebe. The goal scored by Fulham could have been saved but United’s defenders didn’t bother to mark Joe Bryan. He ultimately headed in past the helpless De Gea.
Solksjaer will be hoping that Maguire returns before the Europa League Final against Villarreal. No one can believe in this defense right now. Maguire has been a leader and his absence is felt by both the managers and the fans.
Fans disappointed on their Old Trafford return:
Fans deserved more and it is the truth that they didn’t get enough from this match.
The manager was disappointed and so do the players as they were not able to provide some joy to the fans on their return. The stadium were filled with fans holding banners, some of them holding the anti-glazer banners.
The first goal from Cavani brought huge amazement all around the stadium ad the fans erupted in joy. But the Fulham goal was disappointing for them.
We hope they witness a win soon.
What’s next:
Manchester United faces Wolves on the 23rd of May in an exciting Premier League clash and also the last match of this Premier League season. Fulham meanwhile faces Newcastle on the same day.
