Sevilla’s defender Jules Kounde has made it clear that he could leave the club in the summer’s transfer window as teams like Manchester United and Chelsea being his most likely destination.
The Frenchman is viewed as one of La Liga’s most promising center-backs, and he has been on the radar of top-class European clubs over the previous year.
While talking to RMC Sport yesterday, Kounde acknowledged that he may think about a change this mid-year, however, nothing has been decided at this point.
He said: “Regarding my future, it is certain that I may have to change this summer, but nothing is acted on yet – I have not decided anything. My goal is to evolve in a big club, to always try to progress and win trophies too. I may have to move, but that’s not relevant today.”
He added that he has the desire to play at a big club and win prizes. Being Sevilla’s main defender, Jules Kounde has been playing consistently for the team for the past few years and has been strong both aerially and on the ground.
Kounde has consistently been connected with United for a few years, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer targeting toward a left-footed center-back to partner Harry Maguire. The club is additionally watching Villarreal’s Pau Torres, and they could sign one of their targets when the transfer window resumes.
Pau Torres is the less expensive alternative with a €65 million transfer price, that less at least £15m less than Kounde, who has a price of around €80m. Be that as it may, Kounde a few years younger than the Spaniard, and United could bet on his potential with a major cash offer.
The appearance of Kounde or another top-class center-back could give United huge improvement at the back. Manchester United has let in a lot of goals from set-pieces this year. A solid center-back can prevent this for United.
Varane has been linked to United as well but the official bid has to be made by the club. Kounde’s statement will certainly be good news to every United fan as they will look to welcome him at Old Trafford next season.
