Juan Mata and his future at Manchester United seems to be sorted now as he signed a new one-year contract with Man United.
According to the club’s official website, Juan Mata has finally extended his contract for a further one year. Mata was a free agent and Solksjaer hinted that they were about to start contract talks with the Spaniard.
Juan Mata wasn’t much active this season for Manchester United. He made just 18 appearances(10 starts) and had a big loss to handle as well as he lost his mother. Juan Mata was linked to a move away but he has now put all the rumors at rest.
Juan Mata joined Manchester United from Chelsea way back in 2014 and since then he has provided 41 assists and scored 51 goals in 273 appearances for the club. Mata scored the last goal of the 2020/21 PL season against Wolves.
Mata was still impressive and was only third in terms of chances created this season(2.2 chances per 90 minutes), just behind Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw. The statement by the club has described him as ‘a magician on the pitch and a gentleman off it’. He is highly rated by his teammates.
Solksjaer just loves the Spaniard and he knows that he can have a great influence on the young players of our squad. His experience and masterclass midfield passing can surely help United next season.
Manchester United has been currently busy bringing in players and extending contracts as they want to complete their transfer deals quickly. Sancho has been signed and now they will look to add a strong centre-back to their ranks.
