As reported by BBC Sport, Manchester United and England striker Marcus Rashford received heavy racial abuse via social media after his missed penalty against Italy.
The incident came in light that England missed the chance to lift the trophy after some failed penalty kicks. But whatever the reason is, racial abuse is a shameless act to do. You can’t say yourself a football fan if you can’t respect a player.
Both, England and Italy failed to score their second goal after an early super goal by Luke Shaw and a close-range effort by Bonucci. The game ultimately reached extra time but again failed to break their opponent’s defense. Then came the penalty kicks which was the only way to decide the game at the end.
Belotti missed a spot-kick which gave a perfect opportunity for England to score. But, Marcus Rashford hit the post, even after Donnarumma dived the other way.
Jorginho too missed the chance to score and then continuous penalty misses by Jadon Sancho and Bakayo Saka proved too costly for England as they failed to lift the trophy.
Rashford received the same abuse when Manchester United lost against Villarreal.
Marcus Rashford and Bakayo Saka were then subjected to heavy racial abuse and criticism via social media. Through their official Twitter account, Manchester United condemned the shameful fact and provided support to Marcus Rashford.
One kick won’t define you as a player or person, Marcus. Remember that.

The FA then released a statement on this matter through their Twitter account, saying: “We could not be clearer that anyone behind such disgusting behavior is not welcome in following the team. We will do all we can to support the players affected while urging the toughest punishments possible for anyone responsible.”

This is not what the players deserve. They have been really brave and standing there in such a pressure situation is already a war won for them.
Fans who are behind this disastrous act will never be able to understand the situation that the players go through. The people behind this shambolic act should be given the toughest punishment possible.
