As reported by 90min, Manchester United is ready to let Phil Jones leave for free after being frozen at the club due to his injuries. Solksjaer thinks that the player is surplus to requirements and will permit him to leave for free.
He has been a long-standing player at the club and is not much is required at the moment. The club pays him approx. £100,000 a week wages and the most worrying thing is that the player has not played for Man United since Janur=ary 2020.
It’s been one and a half years and Jones has been suffering from injuries and fitness-related issues. He is present at Old Trafford since the time Alex Ferguson used to coach him. After signing Jadon Sancho and now Varane’s deal looking really close, United would be looking to offload the defender this summer.
He will be allowed to leave as a free agent. Many Premier League clubs like Everton and West Ham United are keeping a close eye on his situation. Although he has been far away from his best, he can still manage to revive his career to some extent if he returns fit.
Solksjaer certainly doesn’t have him in his plans and letting him go for free will be the best option for the club and the player as well. Through this decision, Jones will also get the chance to make a good come back again.
There have been no official updates from the manager or the club regarding Phil Jones but his current situation does indicate that the club may sanction a sale very soon.
