Victor Lindelof has admitted that he has finally recovered from the back injury that had affected him last season. The injury was a pretty tough one to swallow for the Swedish center-back who was sidelined for some crucial games last year.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “I’ve been working very hard on my back, especially during the break. I struggled a lot with it last season and had to really play through it. I played a game and then would need to rest for a couple of days, and then it was straight into another game. That was tough, but as I say, I’ve been working very hard with different types of exercises and treatment, and I feel much better. You have to really take care of your body, and when you have time to rest a little bit, you have to do that and also clear your mind.”
Victor Lindelof missed a few games last season around Christmas and New year. He was unable to against Wolves, Aston Villa and Burnley. He was also forced to be substituted against Leicester City and it was pretty clear that he was struggling to deal with his back injury.
Still, Lindelof was a regular starter for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team. He played 45 games last season which proves that he was consistently used as a partner for Harry Maguire.
The long vacation after the Euros has been hugely beneficial for Victor Lindelof and over the past few months, he has been working very hard on his back. It has brought success and now he has joined Manchester United’s training camp in Scotland.
Raphael Varane will be his big competition as the French centre-back is expected to partner with Harry Maguire in defence for the upcoming season.
He will be keeping himself fit as United prepare for their first Premier League match against Leeds United on the 14th of August.
