West Ham still trying to pursue Jesse Lingard this summer

As reported by the Times, West Ham United has not given up on their pursuit of signing Jesse Lingard this summer. They are still trying to convince Lingard to make the move as they want him to play for them next season.

He was unable to play regularly for Manchester United last season and his form was dipping.

He was then loaned out to West Ham United in the second half of the season. The loan move proved to be a masterstroke as Lingard brought back his original form. He scored nine goals in 16 appearances for West Ham.

He started to score and assists regularly and soon became a guaranteed starter for West Ham. David Moyes was left impressed by the player and wants to sign him permanently this summer.

It was looking as if West Ham could make a bid but the plan was halted as Manchester United demanded £40m for Lingard. But, West Ham is still keen on the transfer and has not given up on Jesse Lingard.

They need attacking depth and a proper attacking midfielder is much needed for David Moyes.

West Ham assistant manager Stuart Pearce has publicly revealed that the club wants Jesse Lingard to make the move. While talking to talkSPORT, he said:

“We would like him to come and join us. That has been an open secret. He was wonderful last year. The ball is in Manchester United’s court. He is contracted to them. We would like him with us – there is no doubt about that.”
