The visitors were forced on the back foot in the early stages of the game with Wolves star frontman Adama Traore hoping to work his magic and give his side the advantage.

Francisco Trincao another in the Wolves camp who proved to be a handful for the Manchester United backline, which included new signing Raphael Varane, to deal with but the player was unable to find the breakthrough to put Wolves in the lead.

Bruno Fernandes thought he had given United the lead just before the half-time break but the Portuguese playmaker’s effort was ruled out following an offside decision going against the player.

United entered the match with renewed confidence after the break and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sought to improve upon his side’s attacking fortunes by bringing on the veteran Edinson Cavani off the bench.

Traore looked as lethal as ever and the Spaniard nearly set his attacking partner Trincao for the opening goal of the match only for the latter’s effort to go wide of the target.

David de Gea put out a heroic spree of saves to deny Wolves from finding the back of the net with the United No.1 making a double save from Roman Saiss to keep the scoreline level.

On the other end of the pitch, United finally found the breakthrough they needed with Mason Greenwood the man to slot his finish into the net and seal the three points for the visiting side.
