5 players Manchester United will go after in the next transfer window

Manchester United fans will surely be rejoicing at one of the best transfer windows witnessed in recent years at Old Trafford with big names arriving on the scene this summer.

While the Old Trafford icon in Cristiano Ronaldo staged a shocking return to the Premier League with his old club, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, both longstanding targets for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer, also landed in the city pen deals with the Red Devils.

Some deadwood players were shipped out either on a permanent basis or on loan arrangements while some fringe first-teamers ended up being retained by the club, but few amongst the club’s most ardent of supporters will be fretting over that.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his roster a massive boost in this summer’s transfer window but the United gaffer could be left wondering whether he could have done anything more to land another of his prized names on the shopping list.

Here are the 5 players we believe Manchester United will go after when the next transfer window opens –

1. Declan Rice

Manchester United’s requirement of a new defensive midfielder has become well-documented in recent times and West Ham United’s wantaway star Declan Rice fits the bill for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ideal signing.

With reports claiming that the England international wants to leave the London Stadium next summer, United are sure to revisit their interest in signing Rice in a big-money deal.

2. Ruben Neves

Joining Rice in the list is another of the young and promising midfield names in the Premier League, Wolves star man Ruben Neves, who was linked with a deadline day switch to Old Trafford this summer.

Should Wolves fail to secure European football for the next campaign, the Portugal international Neves could be tempted to seal a move to a top-six side and Manchester United will be looking to cash in on that very opportunity.

3.  Jules Kounde

The Sevilla man’s future was subject to much speculation this summer with Chelsea leading Manchester United in the chase to sign the France international which failed to materialise over pricing concerns.

Chelsea could be lured into looking at alternative names in the transfer market in January, suggest reports, which will United a chance to move ahead in the pecking order for Kounde’s signature.

4. Kieran Trippier

Trippier will be joining Kounde in the list of defensive targets Manchester United will like to keep close tabs on beyond the summer following a breakdown in talks to sign the England international this time around.

Atletico Madrid were in no mood to sanction the full-back’s sale to Old Trafford without pocketing a hefty fee but Trippier is understood to be wanting a return to his homeland which gives a boost to United’s chances of reviving their interest in the former Spurs man.

5. Leon Goretzka

The Bayern Munich midfield maestro was eyed up by Ole Gunnar Solskajer this summer when speculation was rife over the future of star man Paul Pogba.

With the transfer window now shut, Pogba is believed to be keen on extending his stay at Old Trafford but any interest from the likes of Real Madrid and PSG next summer in the World Cup-winning Frenchman should mean United will be back in the chase for Goretzka’s services.
