Manchester United are claimed to be leading the race to sign Declan Rice next summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on the West Ham United midfielder to improve his roster.
Rice had been heavily backed to call it quits at the London Stadium in this summer’s transfer window as Chelsea and Manchester United emerged suitors for landing his signature in a big-money deal.
The 22-year-old England international, however, ended up being retained by The Hammers who are looking to offer a new long-term deal to Rice with a major wage bump in the offing for the midfield man.
Reports from Manchester Evening News suggest that in spite of the contract talks gaining ground as of late, Manchester United have identified Rice as their prime target for the summer transfer window and a potential framework to sign him has been discussed.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had put off his requirement to bring in a fresh face for his midfield this summer but the United boss will be prioritising doing that next time around and ensure a solid new signing at Old Trafford.
