As reported by Football365, former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has stated the names of four players who were instrumental in the win against Atalanta. He has named Cristiano Ronaldo, Fred, Bruno Fernandes, and Paul Pogba as the most important players without whom this comeback would have been impossible.
Man United was looking like a completely different team in the second half. They attacked more, gave no space for the opponents to exploit, provided perfect crosses, and dominated the game entirely.
Wenger didn’t let the efforts of the above named Man United players go in vain and has praised them for perfectly fulfilling their roles.
He said: “
I told you before the game that Ronaldo is a champion, and we see that is never by coincidence. He turned up again with a wonderful header, and we forget many times when we speak about him how good he is in the air. The changes made the difference – Pogba, I thought, did well. I would personally highlight the second half for Fred.
“Fred saved a few crosses in the box, defensively outstanding and he worked unbelievably hard in the second half. Pogba gave more power out from deep midfield by creating more dangerous balls. And when Pogba came on, Fernandes became better. Fernandes had a poor first half and in the second half he came alive.”
Cristiano Ronaldo inculcated a winning belief in the team and his match-winning goal was a gift to his efforts. Bruno Fernandes made a record eight chances in the match and was awarded the Man of the Match for the same.
