Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane suffered a hamstring injury during United’s Champions League group stage match against Atalanta.
Varane was withdrawn just before half-time as he showed signs of uneasiness and couldn’t continue to play. Weeks before the Atalanta game, Varane was again injured during France’s Nations League Finals match against Spain.
He was sidelined for a few games but then returned to the starting XI. But now, matters have become worse for the defender and Manchester United.
The club’s official website has confirmed that the French defender is expected to be out for one month.
Varane has been a solid pillar for the club and in his presence, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been playing with discipline and confidence.
His absence was felt against Leicester City and Liverpool. In both matches, the opposition team easily destroyed Manchester United with more than three goals. His return to the starting XI against Spurs made a huge difference as they were looking strong and confident at the back.
United’s next game will be against Manchester City which will be the club’s toughest test this season. After a two-week international break, United then faces Watford, Villarreal, and Chelsea.
We wish Raphael Varane a speedy recovery.
