Jules Kounde is ‘happy’ at Sevilla, according to The Express, and will not leave in January despite Manchester United’s interest.
For the past two years in Spain, the 23-year-old has put on a show that has surprised the fans. Sevilla has developed him into one of the greatest in the industry, and he is attracting interest from prominent European clubs.
Chelsea was the first to attempt to entice the Frenchman to come to England. Kurt Zouma was sold to West Ham in the summer, but they were unable to sign Kounde. The Blues offered £50 million to secure his contract, but the Spanish club refused.
They remained firm on the player’s £68 million release clause and demanded nothing less. Although the deal fell through, Thomas Tuchel and his team could still sign him in the future.
Man United, on the other hand, has lately entered the competition to capture the defender. Raphael Varane was brought in by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer, but the Red Devils still need extra cover.
Harry Maguire appears to be out of sorts, and his injury from September hasn’t helped matters. Varane has already sustained two injuries this season. His most recent setback has forced him to miss a month of play.
As a result, Kunde’s presence could aid in the formation of a dominant backline. The Old Trafford club had been considering a January move, but that has now been ruled out. The French international is said to be happy in Spain and will not move during the winter season. Furthermore, the Spanish club is unconcerned about its valuable player, who is under contract until 2024.
Joan Castro, the club’s president, has already stated that they do not need to sell the center-back in order to raise finances, and sports director Monchi is also a skilled negotiator. As a result, United may have to look for other ways to bolster its defence.
