After starting the season poorly since his mega-money move from Borussia Dortmund, it was a joy to watch Jadon Sancho perform so brilliantly against Villarreal.
Manchester United won comfortably against Unai Emery’s side and Jadon Sancho had his name on the scoresheet. Michael Carrick, the temporary manager, elected to start him against Villarreal, and he was undoubtedly United’s best attacking player on the pitch.
His link-up play with Bruno Fernandes was superb, his movements were magical and his presence in the opposition box was always felt. His intensity didn’t drop and he was awarded for his hard work.
Sancho was delighted after scoring his first goal for the club as he was quick to react to this great moment. Through his official Twitter account, he said:
“Proud to score my first goal for @ManUtd in the best competition in world football @Champions League! Great team effort from the boys tonight, we build from this.”

United fans will be hoping that Sancho can improve on his own performance, as it seems that the squad should have been attempting to send the ball wide to him more often. Villarreal’s life was made difficult by the neat winger, who proved why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed him.
His chances for starting regularly for United is looking bright at this moment and he will look to make full use of it. The fans will be waiting to see him score more goals like the way he did with Borussia Dortmund.
