As reported by The Mirror, Ralf Rangnick is in advanced talks to become Manchester United’s interim manager, and he may make one of his former players’ dreams come true.
Following a dismal start to the season, the Red Devils parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday. United is now in ninth place in the Premier League after suffering humiliating defeats to Watford (4-1), Manchester City (2-0), and Liverpool in three of their past four games (5-0).
It’s difficult to pinpoint one area on the field as the source of the club’s recent issues, but their midfield has been a problem for numerous reasons. Rangnick may be planning to have RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara to tackle the problems during his six-month spell in the Old Trafford dugout.

Rangnick signed the Mali international from RB Salzburg for £17 million in 2019, and the player may be enticed to reunite with the German because of his desire to play for United.
Newcastle was unwilling to match the clause at the time, but now that they have new ownership, they will be able to pursue the young potential in January or next year if he is still a target. After Naby Keita left for Liverpool, Haidara was signed as a long-term successor, with his tremendous potential being a major factor for the midfielder’s decision to go from Austria to Germany.
It’ll be interesting to watch who Rangnick signs in the January transfer window, as well as whether he believes the group has enough talent to meet United’s short-term goals during his six-month stay at the Theatre of Dreams.
His high-pressing, aggressive tactics may take some time for the current Red Devils squad to adjust to, but the signing of a player who is experienced with the way Rangnick likes to play could be beneficial.
