Entire Champions League draw to be redone after huge backlash

Manchester United drew against Paris Saint-Germain a few hours ago in the Champions League Round of 16 but now, the draw will be entirely redone after a big error.

Manchester United was drawn against Paris Saint-Germain, but it was evident that our ball had not been placed in the bowl to face La Liga winners Atletico Madrid — after an initial miscalculation that had us drawn against Villarreal, whom we had already seen in the group stages.

Because the system they utilize is so simple, no one knows how they managed to screw it up. The Champions League draw has been declared void, and at 14:00 GMT, it will be “completely remade.”

The Uefa has released an official statement regarding the draw, as they said:

“Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. As a result of this, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET.”

The issue was called an administrative blunder.

United was initially drawn against Villarreal, a team with whom they had already been partnered in Group F. Former Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has been asked to draw once more, and Manchester City will face Villarreal instead.

However, for unknown reasons, United was not included in the pot of potential opponents for Atletico Madrid, who instead received Bayern Munich, leaving United to face Paris St-Germain.
