Amadou Haidara, a Manchester United transfer target, has replied to the rumours linking him to a January move to Old Trafford.
After working with the player at RB Leipzig, interim coach Ralf Rangnick is largely expected to make him one of his first priorities. And the former chairman and CEO of the Bundesliga club, Oliver Mintzlaff, recently said that he knows Rangnick is a big fan of the Mali international.

The player’s own reply, made in an interview with German magazine Sport Bild today, may be interpreted as a ‘come and get me’ type of statement.
Haidara said:
“Everyone had a favourite team as a child. Mine was United. I was big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, liked Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Edwin van der Sar, Anderson. But if you want to speak to me now about rumours: I am in Leipzig and feel well. Ralf [Rangnick] has played a very big role in my career.”
“You mustn’t forget: when Leipzig wanted to sign me, I tore my cruciate ligament. But Ralf said that I should come anyway. I am very grateful to him because he really wanted me and put a lot of trust in me as trainer at Leipzig.”
Manchester United fans will be pleased to hear Haidara’s statements, as they hope the club will add another defensive midfielder to the roster in January. Even in today’s market, the 23-year-old has a £33 million buyout clause, which represents outstanding value for money.
With Leipzig attempting to renegotiate his contract in order to increase or remove the clause entirely, United may need to make a January move if they want to keep him at that affordable price.
Manchester United has won four of their six games since Solskjaer was fired, and they will face Brighton on Saturday after their Premier League match against Brentford was postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak at Carrington on Tuesday.
