Ralf Rangnick has provided some important team news ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Newcastle United on Monday, according to the club’s official website. It will be Man United’s first match since a Covid-19 outbreak in their training camp.
Newcastle United is dealing with a number of injuries, with players such as Federico Fernandez, Jamal Lewis, Jonjo Shelvey, and Paul Dummett expected to miss their next match. Due to a suspension, Isaac Hayden will remain on the bench, while Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth have returned to the lineup.
Ralf Rangnick confirmed in his pre-match press conference that he has the whole squad available for selection, with the exception of Paul Pogba, who is recovering from an injury sustained during the international break.
He said:
“Yes, as you know, we had last week, the last training session on Thursday, on that day we had eight outfield players and three goalkeepers and then we closed down the training ground for four days in order to break the chain.”
“Today was the third day of training this week, we started on Tuesday, we trained yesterday and today. Today we had 25 outfield players. Paul Pogba is the only one missing, everyone else was on board. The development in the last week was extremely positive.”
Rangnick has had a difficult time since taking over as manager, and the virus outbreak has hindered the process of establishing his identity in the team even further. There is still time until Monday, so he can concentrate on the changes he wants to make to the current team.
This rise in selection would also ensure that individuals who were harmed by the interruption had enough time to recover their fitness. Not to mention, the whole squad’s availability without Pogba could not have arrived at a better moment as we approach the holiday season.
To overcome the packed fixtures, we’d have to use the entire squad, controlling their minutes as needed. Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka might all return against the Magpies because Pogba is the only player out of contention.
Varane was dealing with hamstring issues, while Cavani was dealing with an ailment of his own. Due to injury, both Martial and Wan-Bissaka were unable to play against Norwich City. On Monday, we’ll find out if they’ll be gradually introduced into the team or if they’ll be able to play right away.
Rangnick’s strongest possible XI and the players he prefers as starters could be revealed for the first time. Of sure, Paul Pogba will be missed, but we have recently learned to live without him.
