Luke Chadwick doesn’t see Ruben Neves joining Man United

Manchester United has been linked with a bid for Ruben Neves once again. After interim manager Ralf Rangnick watched Wolves’ midfield dominate United on Monday, the midfielder has been touted as a target.

We know Neves can shoot, choose a pass, and make tackles from seeing him in the Premier League. That cannot be said of all of United’s midfielders.

Wolves sought £35 million for Neves’ signature last summer, and his contract at Molineux continues until 2024. Former United player Luke Chadwick, on the other hand, is skeptical if the team really needs Neves right now.

Player turned pundit Chadwick was impressed by Neves’ performance on Monday night, but the former United academy graduate isn’t sure that the 24-year-old is a priority at the moment.

Chadwick told Caught Offside that Neves joining United this month or in the summer would surprise him.

He said:

“He’s a hugely talented central midfield player… United is linked with players like him almost all the time. He’s got a great range of passing, an incredible shot, and nearly scored one of his trademark specials against United but for a terrific De Gea save.”

“He’s got all the characteristics of a top midfield player for a top club, though I’m not sure he’d make a huge difference at United at the moment in terms of what they’re looking for.”

“But again, a massively talented player … I’m not sure what United will be doing in the transfer market, but I don’t personally see him moving to United this month or at the end of the season.”

Manchester United is dealing with a host of issues in terms of their midfield options. Rangnick has not been able to fix his starting XI as the players are not being consistent enough.

The current scenario does indicate that United may go for a highly talented midfielder like Ruben Neves but will need to fix many other issues and the chief one being the bloated squad that they need to trim at any cost.
