Manchester United defensive midfielder Fred has dismissed rumours that a number of players, including himself, are dissatisfied at the club, calling the reports “fake news.”
Despite being regarded as title contenders before the season began, the Red Devils have had a difficult season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ousted at the end of November and interim manager Ralf Rangnick failing to spark a turnaround in fortunes.
United are still in the seventh position in the Premier League table after losing to Wolves last time out, and their poor form has sparked a slew of reports depicting a disorganized squad.
According to the Daily Mail, 17 players are dissatisfied with either the club’s status or their personal lack of playing time, with as many as 11 players actively seeking to leave.
Many of them are well-known, with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard likely to depart Old Trafford when their contracts expire in the summer, and Rangnick recently revealing Anthony Martial’s request to leave this month.
However, Fred was identified in the report as a player who was unhappy at United, with the Brazilian reportedly evaluating his options as he approaches the end of his contract – albeit the club has the option to extend it.
I just want to say that I am very happy here and I have never expressed any dissatisfaction and the possibility of leaving the club. Don't get misled by fake news. We will continue to work with great dedication to pursue our goals.

Fred tweeted on his official Twitter account:
“Over the past few days, I have read several fake news involving my name and other MUFC athletes. I’m not in the habit of answering controversial stuff publicly, but this time I will have to.”
“I just want to say that I am very happy here and I have never expressed any dissatisfaction and the possibility of leaving the club. ‘Don’t get misled by fake news. We will continue to work with great dedication to pursue our goals.”
Fred, on the other hand, has slammed the rumours, insisting that he is very happy at United and has never shown a wish to leave, as well as defending his teammates and insisting that everyone is pulling together.
Fred’s name didn’t necessarily come up, but he will be aware of the rumours that the club is looking for a new midfielder. Fans will be thrilled to see the former Shakhtar Donetsk player speak honestly and directly after being made the scapegoat in the past.
Fans will appreciate Fred’s efforts, which should assist to reduce the recent negativity surrounding Carrington and Old Trafford. Keeping the rumours aside, fans will want the players to deliver not just good results, but also pleasant performances.
