According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United is in talks to sign Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Following last season’s Premier League runner-up finish to Manchester City, senior figures in the Old Trafford boardroom sent a proper statement by signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, after 12 years with Real Madrid and Juventus.
However, United failed to sign a top-tier defensive midfielder last summer.
Declan Rice was supposed to be the top target in that regard, while Amadou Haidara has been mentioned as a possible alternative because of his good relationship with interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who is also interested in Boubacar Kamara and Wolves’ Ruben Neves.
After establishing himself in the Bundesliga, Zakaria is another name that has been suggested.

Rangnick’s favourite, the Swiss international is out of contract next summer and is free to negotiate with foreign teams, forcing United to take steps in the hopes of signing the 25-year-old at the end of the season.
Zakaria might be a valuable addition to Manchester United’s midfield. But it’s unclear whether they’ll be able to bring him to Old Trafford, as there appears to be stiff competition for the Swiss international’s signature.

However, if there is one position in which the Red Devils need to improve this month, it is likely to be their midfield, which has been a source of weakness for some time.
