As reported by The Manchester Evening News, Manchester United has been dealt with a minor injury scare after their key player Raphael Varane was seen limping during France’s match against Ivory Coast.
Varane was picked in Didier Deschamps starting 11 to face the Ivory Coast on Friday as the country prepare to defend their World Cup ahead of this summer’s biggest competition in Qatar. Raphael Varane was seen limping off the field around the hour mark, despite France winning 2-1.
According to Deschamps, the defender has a small problem with his foot, although the 28-year-old jogged off the pitch to be replaced by William Saliba during the game, suggesting the injury isn’t serious.
Despite recently suffering from a slight injury, Manchester United will be hoping that defender Raphael Varane returns from international duty with France in fine form.
Months back, the Manchester United center-back had suffered a serious injury against Atalanta because of which he was sidelined for a long time. He made a return against Newcastle in January.
The extent of the 28-year-old’s injury is still not known, but United will be crossing their fingers that he doesn’t suffer any major injury while on international duty with France.
It’s no secret that even Ralf Rangnick has been using Varane wisely due to his history of being injured quite often. During his time at Real Madrid, he was a regular player in the Los Blancos’ starting XI. But with age, he soon started to feel victim to some minor injuries.
The fans will hope that the French defender will be available for Manchester United’s match against Leicester City on the 2nd of April in a crucial Premier League clash.
