As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Ralf Rangnick has remained tight-lipped about the possibility of Erik ten Hag becoming Manchester United’s next permanent manager but has revealed that ‘elite coaches’ have been interviewed for the position.
After conversations with the club’s board, Ten Hag is expected to be selected as the Red Devils’ new manager, with Rangnick serving as temporary manager until the end of the season.
After leading Ajax to two league titles and the Champions League semi-finals during his stint in Amsterdam, the Dutchman is said to have excelled during the interview process and has emerged as a favorite for the job.
He said:
“This is the press conference for tomorrow’s game and I don’t intend to speak about any possible new managers here. From what I know, all the managers the club has spoken to so far are top managers, and top coaches and this is true of Erik ten Hag. That’s all I can say at this stage. For me, it’s about preparing the team for tomorrow’s game and hopefully three points tomorrow.”
Rangnick is not revealing about Ten Hag’s chances of joining the club in the coming weeks. He is surely involved in the process and the board has been taking advice from the experts as well.
The current plan is based on future plans, signings, youth development, and the stadium upgrade. He will be joining for a long-term deal and will be getting assurance from the board for their 100% involvement in club related matters.
Manchester United has signed a number of top coaches over the years but the club’s commitment and loyalty to the project have always seemed to be the issue. Ten Hag may have studied this potential issue and will not take any risk with his transfer.
