The Red Devils’ woes continue as they face more injury issues heading towards the Chelsea tie.
Manchester United are dealing with an injury crisis at the end of the season, with Ralf Rangnick revealing that Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, and Fred will all miss their match against Chelsea.
United will play Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday night in the Premier League, hoping to keep their slim chances of finishing in the top four alive.
Rangnick’s side has dropped to sixth place in the table after losing their past two games to Liverpool and Arsenal and will be without a number of key players for the Blues’ travel to Manchester.
As reported by The Mirror, the German manager said:
“We have quite a few players missing tomorrow, quite a few with question marks. Aaron Wan-Bissaka can be available. Harry has an issue with his knee. Not in training yesterday or today. Paul Pogba is out. Luke Shaw. Jadon is ill – he has had tonsillitis since yesterday, couldn’t train today, not available tomorrow.”
“According to the team doctor, Cavani will be back in training on Friday. Fred is not available. He tried to train yesterday, we had a conversation. He’s not fully fit, it doesn’t make sense with a muscular injury to play him early, taking the risk of reinjury.”
Maguire was an unused replacement in last week’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal, and he now has a knock that will keep him out of the Chelsea match.
Jadon Sancho is out due to illness, while Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw are still out with serious injuries. Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani is not expected to return to full training until the end of the week.
Rangnick clearly revealed that Fred is still not ready to play. He suffered from a hip injury in United’s 1-0 loss to Everton on April 9
Alejandro Garnacho has been on the bench for United’s last three games and might make his debut at Old Trafford, while Hannibal Mejbri shone in a cameo appearance against Liverpool.
