Manchester United’s new manager, Erik ten Hag, is looking for a new goalkeeper after making inquiries about Giorgi Mamardashvili of Valencia.
The Dutch coach, who decided to leave Ajax early to pursue the Manchester United job, has met with John Murtough and Richard Arnold on several occasions.
Ten Hag was in London last week for meetings and also watched his team’s defeat by the hands of Crystal Palace. He understands where he needs to improve his team, and a new goalie is on his wish list.
Lee Grant, along with Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Nemanja Matic, will all depart the club this summer and Dean Henderson is also expected to make a move.
David de Gea will stay at the club for the next season. But Ten Hag wants another goalkeeper to push De Gea, and Mamardashvili is the man, according to Diario AS.
For the ninth-placed Los Che, Mamardashvili kept eight clean sheets and conceded 20 goals in 18 games.
However, with interest from England, a contract extension is in doubt. United, on the other hand, has yet to make a concrete offer.
Mamardashvili might leave the club for roughly €15 million.
