Ajax star Jurrien Timber is not sure about signing for Manchester United, according to reports.
The young Dutchman has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United for some time, but he appears to be careful of following Erik ten Hag from Amsterdam to Manchester.
Timber’s £35 million deal to Manchester United could be in serious trouble, according to the Daily Mirror, since he is concerned about losing his spot in the national team if he does not play frequently next season.
Timber will undoubtedly be excited to play for the Netherlands at the World Cup later this year, but he is concerned that Louis van Gaal may swiftly remove a major name like Georginio Wijnaldum after he played less at PSG than at Liverpool.
Timber, who has seven senior caps, is clearly less safe than Wijnaldum, at least in principle, and it would be baseless for him to avoid such a risk ahead of this year’s major international event.
Given his age, Timber will almost certainly be able to secure a major move to Old Trafford or elsewhere in the future, so he would be wise not to switch teams this summer.
This would be a major problem for United, who are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements after conceding the most goals in Premier League history in 2021/22.
