Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is unlikely to join Newcastle United after the Magpies ruled out a deal for the 25-year-old.
According to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, Newcastle United admire Henderson but has made no attempt to sign him, and their stand will not change during the summer transfer window.
Despite reports that he will start the season as Manchester United’s number one goalkeeper, Henderson has been overlooked for the bulk of the 2021/22 season, serving as a backup to David de Gea.
Unfortunately for the United and England goalie, a case of long-covid prevented him from getting off to a fast start at the start of the season, and he never recovered his spot.

After being crowned Manchester United’s Players’ Player of the Year, David de Gea’s selection over Henderson was justified. However, if Erik ten Hag decides to go with De Gea as his first choice, the goalkeeper will be limited in options.
Dean Henderson wants to leave United and play on a regular basis. After a remarkable return to the Premier League with Sheffield United in their first season back in the top division, he has every right to want it.
He is a goalkeeper with a lot of potentials who will be looking to reach England’s World Cup squad under Gareth Southgate. However, such seemed doubtful in the absence of regular football.
Newcastle has talked about bringing in a new goalkeeper, but it is not a key priority for the club, as other positions are considered more important. Offensive players, as well as a new centre-back, are at the top of manager Eddie Howe’s summer wish list.
