Manchester United is set to be struggling to lure Darwin Nunez as Liverpool is in direct contact with his agent.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, they have reportedly offered a fee of around £80m to Benfica to insist them to sell their star asset.
Liverpool is said to be very close to completing a deal to sign him as their bid is likeable to Benfica’s asking price. In total, they have offered a €100 million package which includes the add-ons.
The young Uruguayan attacking player might potentially become Benfica’s second-highest selling player, trailing only Joao Felix, who left for Atletico Madrid for about €120 million.

As things considered, Liverpool is ramping up their efforts to bring in an attacker as Sadio Mane is expected to leave the club. However, Manchester United is still in the race and hasn’t given up its pursuit of signing Nunez.
They are also in verbal talks with his agent but the only factor that is causing concern is the lack of Champions League football. Darwin Nunez loves the prospect of playing in the world’s biggest competition which United can’t offer next season.
Also, the club is not ready to match Liverpool’s bid and would try to negotiate for a low fee which could complicate it even further.
