United boss Erik ten Hag wants to fast-track the deal for top target Lisandro Martinez with the pre-season tour used as the deadline to land the Argentine central defender from Ajax.
Martinez has emerged as a priority target for the summer’s transfer window at Old Trafford with the new head coach Ten Hag keen to bolster his defensive roster before the next season kicks off.
According to a report from De Telegraaf, Erik ten Hag wants to wrap up the negotiations for the Ajax man and get the transfer confirmed by Friday which is when United fly out for their pre-season commitments.
The 24-year-old Martinez is also a top name on the shopping list for North London giants Arsenal with the boss Mikel Arteta in the market for a new defender and has zeroed in on Martinez much to the displeasure of the United board.
Martinez, meanwhile, is understood to have an agreement with Ajax to leave the club should a reasonable offer arrive for his services with the Argentina international keen on turning out in the Premier League.
