Manchester United are open to parting ways with talisman Cristiano Ronaldo in a big U-turn on the club’s earlier decision to retain the 37-year-old beyond this summer’s transfer window.
Ronaldo had asked for a move away from Old Trafford with no Champions League football to look forward to in the upcoming campaign but the United camp sounded out reluctance on sanctioning the player’s exit.
According to a fresh claim from 90min, the Red Devils are now willing to let Ronaldo leave this summer with arch rivals Chelsea backed to be readying an offer to bring the Portuguese superstar to Stamford Bridge.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is said to be working on options for his star client with Chelsea looking to be the viable destination for the Manchester United attacking mainstay who made his return to England’s top flight last year from Juventus.
United are set to lose Ronaldo for a knockdown fee of around £15 million with the attacker having just one year left on his current terms with the club which he looks likely to swap for the Chelsea shirt before the next season gets underway.
