Manchester United keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper Yann Sommer

Manchester United are said to be keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper Yann Sommer as Eric ten Hag looks for a new goalkeeping option to add to his ranks this summer.

David de Gea has not enjoyed the best of outings in United’s opening two games of the new season and the long-serving goalie could find his spot on the team sheet under threat should Ten Hag step up his interest in other names across the transfer market.

According to a report from The Sun, Switzerland international goalkeeper Yann Sommer has emerged on United’s shopping list for the summer window with the club’s scouts in attendance for Monchengladbach’s recent game on Friday night.

The 33-year-old Sommer, who has been a standout performer for his side over the years in Germany’s top flight, however, is not expected to be open to the idea of playing second fiddle to De Gea at Old Trafford if he makes the move to the Premier League.

Other options reportedly on United’s radar are the much experienced Tim Krul who currently plays for Norwich City and Watford shot-stopper Daniel Bachmann with Ten Hag keen to reinforce his squad before September 1’s deadline.
